Recruiting Corner — June 2026

June 15th:
The Start of Something.

June 15 is the date the Division I recruiting window officially opens for the Class of 2028. Starting on this date, college coaches are allowed to make direct contact with current 9th graders for the first time — phone calls, texts, emails, and verbal offers can now happen.

But here's what we want every family to understand: June 15 is the beginning of your recruiting journey — not a report card. Most players will not receive a phone call that day, and that is completely normal. The date simply means the process is now officially open. Where you go from here is what matters.

A Real Talk on June 15

Social media will light up on June 15 with commitment announcements and stories of players getting calls from big-name programs. It can feel exciting — and for some players, it can feel discouraging if the phone doesn't ring right away.

Here is the truth: only a small number of elite players nationally will receive D1 Power Conference offers on or around June 15. That does not define your path or your worth as a player.

The college soccer landscape is massive. There are hundreds of programs across D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and NJCAA — and the right fit for you exists somewhere in that landscape. The goal isn't to land the biggest name. The goal is to find the place where you will grow, compete, be valued, and thrive both on and off the field.

June 15 is the starting gun. Your job is to be ready to run your race — not someone else's.

What the open window actually means
📞
Direct contact begins
D1 coaches can now reach out to Class of 2028 players directly for the first time. Before this date, all contact had to go through club coaches.
🏛
Official visits open
Colleges may now invite players for official paid campus visits — tours, team meetings, and time with coaching staff.
📝
Verbal offers allowed
Programs can extend verbal commitments. These aren't binding until an NLI is signed, but conversations move quickly once the window opens.
🔎
Your process begins
This is not a finish line — it's a starting point. Use the open window to reach out to coaches, attend events, and build relationships with programs.
10 ways to work the process this summer
  • 01
Get your highlight video current and ready
Your video is often the first thing a coach watches. Keep it 3–5 minutes max with your best footage at the front. Recent game film always carries more weight than older highlights — update it now.
  • 02
Make sure your recruiting profile is complete
Whether you're on NCSA, Hudl, or another platform — confirm your GPA, grad year, position, height, and contact info are all current. Coaches verify details quickly and incomplete profiles get passed over.
  • 03
Build a thoughtful school list across all levels
Don't only focus on D1. Research programs at D2, D3, NAIA, and NJCAA as well. Target 15–20 schools across realistic tiers. A great fit at the right level will give you more opportunity and joy than a bench spot at a school that's too big a reach.
  • 04
Reach out to coaches — don't wait to be found
The most successful recruits are proactive. Send personalized emails to every school on your list before or right after June 15. Include your grad year, position, video link, upcoming events, and one genuine reason you're interested in their program. Coaches notice the effort.
  • 05
Be ready if a coach does reach out
Whether you get a call on June 15 or in October — be prepared. Know your elevator pitch: your name, position, club, GPA, and what you're looking for in a college program. A confident, prepared player leaves a lasting impression.
  • 06
    Clean up your digital presence
Coaches look players up. Check your Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X. Make sure what they find represents you well. A positive, professional online presence is part of your recruiting profile whether you think about it or not.
  • 07
    Know your academic standing
Coaches will ask about your GPA and test scores early in every conversation. Know your unweighted GPA, PSAT or SAT scores, and intended major. Academic eligibility and fit matter at every level of college soccer.
  • 08
Compete hard at summer showcases and camps
Coaches are watching in person at summer events. Every game is an opportunity. Play with energy, communicate with teammates, and show coachability. The players who stand out are the ones who compete with intention — not just talent.
  • 09
Visit campuses and get a feel for the environment
Unofficial visits are allowed year-round and are one of the most valuable tools in recruiting. Visit your top schools, watch a practice, walk the campus, and meet the team. You will know quickly whether a place feels right — trust that instinct.
  • 10
Trust the process and stay patient
Recruiting timelines vary for every player. Some commit early, some commit senior year — and both paths can lead to the perfect outcome. Don't rush into a commitment because of pressure or comparison. The right school is the one where you feel seen, valued, and excited to spend the next four years.
What coaches can and cannot do after June 15
✓  Coaches CAN
Call, text, and email players directly

Have unlimited phone and text contact
✗  Coaches CANNOT
Sign a player to an NLI before senior year
Contact players in person off-campus during dead periods
Provide benefits or inducements of any kind

From the College Soccer ID Staff

"There is a college soccer program out there for every player who wants to compete at the next level. June 15 doesn't decide your future — your work ethic, your attitude, and your willingness to find the right fit do. Trust the process. Stay patient. Your school is out there."
